Body shell & Shock Protector for Robak 2.2 RC Car
A part that fits the Robak 2.2 3D printed RC car. This component provides a body shell and protects the suspension/shocks from damage during rollovers. The author notes that the parts are simple but effective. Assembly requirements: - A plastic bottle - An aluminium bar (3x12x295 mm or 1/8" x ¼" x 12") or a 3D printed/cut alternative - Two M3 heat set inserts The author suggests that you can spray paint the bottle on the inside for color. Printing instructions and material notes: - The author recommends printing these parts weaker than the shock tower so that the protector breaks instead of the tower. - The author reports using PLA for the mount in a photo, but suggests PETG for weather resistance and lower impact resistance. - The author reports that PETG broke cleanly during a crash, which they considered a success. - The author suggests TPU might also be used. - The author reports that printing the entire assembly (both mounts and the rail) as a single piece of TPU 68D resulted in a much more durable part.
