Folding Propeller for RC Planes
A folding propeller set designed for RC planes, including various hub and propeller size options. The author used these on upscaled (130%) versions of the Nucking Futs pylon racer. Printing Instructions: - To achieve maximum strength, print with 10 perimeters. This orients layer lines along the perimeters to increase strength at the blade root. - Print with the leading edge of the blade facing the print bed. Author's Report: - Materials: The author states that when printed with PLA or PETG, it withstands several hundred Watts of input power. The author notes 'Best Material would probably be PA-CF'. - Performance: In a max power test with 8.5-inch blades printed in PLA, failure occurred at roughly 1000 Watts. The author suggests that if printed correctly, 300 Watts (approx. 30A @ 3S, 20A @ 4S) should be safe and durable. - Caution: The author warns: 'Do absolutely NOT stand beside or in front of the Propeller when you first test it.' and 'It can cause serious harm when the blades separate!'
