P9 Rigger RC Boat
A model of a P9 Rigger (Outrigger) Racing Boat. The design features a front compartment to keep air in and water out. The author has tested this model with a 4-cell 4000Ma battery; it remains buoyant even when filled with water, with the outrigger and the first 6 inches of the nose staying above the waterline. Assembly and Technical Notes: - Maximum battery is 4-cell unless the 6-cell body is used. The 6-cell body is heavier and takes longer to get on plane. - The 6-cell body must be printed using PETG or a similar strong filament. - The turn fin is critical; templates are provided for fabricating one from 0.8mm aluminum or metal. - Assemble the boat using medium or thick CA glue. - The body and canopy include 2mm alignment holes for easier assembly. - The design uses carbon fiber, piano wire, or wood as a dowel. - Outriggers feature two 5mm alignment holes (47mm and 200mm in length). A 5mm x 127mm hole is included for strengthening. - The 3-piece outrigger is designed to use 100mm x 5mm carbon fiber rods for strength. - The boat is designed to take 7.8mm arrows cut down to 533mm (21").
