RC Plane Tail Steering Wheel Remix
A remix of Jkilby's tail wheel, incorporating Qrome's 54mm wheel and tire. This version features a taller wishbone to accommodate the larger wheel and utilizes threaded posts for the wishbone and rudder guide connections to prevent the wheel from detaching. The fuselage plate height has been increased to provide clearance for the threaded post. Assembly Instructions: - The wheel and tire are two separate pieces. The author printed the wheel from PETG and the tire from TPU. - The wishbone connects to the wheel using a screw as the axle. Insert the wheel between the wishbone and slide a screw through. Tighten until excessive play is removed, but ensure the wheel can rotate freely. A second, slightly smaller nylon nut is used to prevent the first nut from backing off. - The fuselage plate provides support. Slide its hole onto the wishbone post; the bottom of the post is smooth to allow the plate to rotate freely. Secure loosely with a nut. - Slide the rudder plate onto the rudder guide's threaded post and secure tightly with a nut so it does not spin. - Slide the other hole of the rudder plate onto the fuselage nut and secure tightly with a nut to fix the rudder plate to the wishbone. The wishbone and rudder should move in unison, while the fuselage plate rotates freely. - Glue the fuselage plate to the bottom of the fuselage and the rudder guide to the rudder. Ensure the wishbone post is centered directly under the rudder's axis of rotation. Author's Report: - Filament: PETG for the wheel, TPU for the tire.
