Description
A model of a P9 Rigger (Outrigger) Racing Boat. The design features a front compartment to keep air in and water out. The author has tested this model with a 4-cell 4000Ma battery; it remains buoyant even when filled with water, with the outrigger and the first 6 inches of the nose staying above the waterline.
Assembly and Technical Notes:
- Maximum battery is 4-cell unless the 6-cell body is used. The 6-cell body is heavier and takes longer to get on plane.
- The 6-cell body must be printed using PETG or a similar strong filament.
- The turn fin is critical; templates are provided for fabricating one from 0.8mm aluminum or metal.
- Assemble the boat using medium or thick CA glue.
- The body and canopy include 2mm alignment holes for easier assembly.
- The design uses carbon fiber, piano wire, or wood as a dowel.
- Outriggers feature two 5mm alignment holes (47mm and 200mm in length). A 5mm x 127mm hole is included for strengthening.
- The 3-piece outrigger is designed to use 100mm x 5mm carbon fiber rods for strength.
- The boat is designed to take 7.8mm arrows cut down to 533mm (21").

<p>THIS BOAT HAS A COMPART UP FRONT TO KEEP AIR IN AND WATER OUT. This has been tested with a 4-Cell 4000Ma battery and boat does not sink. FYI: Removed rear hatch and ran boat into lake until it filled up with water. The outrigger and 6 inches of the nose stayed out of the water.</p><p>MAXIMUM BATTERY 4-CELL unless 6-cell body is printed. 6-Cell body is heavier and takes longer to get on plane. </p><p>6-Cell must be made of PTEG or stringer filament</p><p>Turn fin is critical on this boat. </p><p>Designed to take 7.8MM arrows cut down to 533mm (21”)</p><p>Assemble the boat with medium or thick CA glue. </p><p>Shown is the right turn fin templets for fabricating from .8mm aluminum or metal. </p><p>Body and canopy have 2mm alignment holes to make assembly easier. I use carbon fiber as a dowel but anything from piano wire to wood will work.</p><p>Outriggers have two 5mm alignment holes, 47mm and 200mm in length.
