Body shell & Shock Protector for Robak 2.2 RC Car
Texto original del autor en Printables

This is a part that fits the Robak 2.2 3d printed rc car: https://www.printables.com/model/119715-robak-2-rc-car

---

I drove Robak 2.2 on concrete. It hit a pothole and became inverted. The car slid on the top, damaging the shocks, a purchased RC part.

I knew it needed a top cover. I could not find one I liked. RC companies can make anything they want, but all they do is make the same 3 trucks?!

I tried making my own but it was difficult to draw because I'm not an industrial designer. I got a drink and realised the bottle was the right shape.

The parts are simple but effective.

You will also need a plastic bottle and an aluminium bar (or 3d print your own, or cut one from wood or UHMW or something). 3x12x295 mm or 1/8" x ¼" x 12" and cut a bit off the end. Also two M3 heat set inserts. (I know I should have used captive square nuts like the rest of the project, but I am fed up with captive square nuts). STEP is provided if you want to re-cut it for square nuts.

My car build is named “Stickers” hence the filenames. It now has more stickers than shown in the photograph.

---

You can spray paint the bottle on the inside for color.

---

Updates

2025-Aug-11 Print these parts weaker than the shock tower. Not stronger. If something is going to break you want it to be this, instead of the shock tower. (In the photo the towers are PAHT-CF and the mount is PLA, but it should be PETG for weather resistance and lower impact resistance).

2025-Aug-12 Crashed again with PETG. The PETG broke cleanly, and no other damage was done. I consider this a success. You might also be able to use TPU.

2026-Apr-01 I printed the entire thing - both mounts and the rail - as a single piece of TPU 68D, and it's much more durable now.

==

License is public domain because this is an original add-on part and no robak file is included.

I would link this as a remix to help people find it, but the licensing prevents it.
