Axial SCX10 Shock Seals
Purpose
These replacement spacers are designed to address oil leakage issues in factory Axial SCX10 shocks. By replacing the original 1mm spacers with these 1.4mm versions, the additional thickness provides extra compression on the O-rings when the bottom cap is tightened, creating a tighter seal without affecting damping behavior.
Practical Uses
This modification is intended for RC crawler enthusiasts looking to prevent oil from escaping their SCX10 factory shocks. The increased thickness aims to provide a more reliable seal over long-term use.
Included Parts
- Shock Spacer AXI233002 replacement (.stl)
- OpenSCAD source code (.scad) for tolerance adjustments
Printing and Assembly Guidance
For printing, the creator used a Prusa MK4 with a 0.4mm nozzle and PET-G material. It is recommended to use a 0.10mm layer height to ensure a smooth perimeter. Users should print a single test piece to verify that the outer diameter matches the original injection-molded spacers and that the thickness is exactly 1.40mm. The inner diameter can be slightly smaller as long as the shock shaft glides smoothly.
To assemble, rebuild the shocks according to the manual, replacing the original spacers between the O-rings with these printed parts. Apply shock lubricant liberally around the O-rings. The bottom shock cap may feel slightly tighter than before due to the increased spacer thickness.
