Twisted Hobbys / RC Factory - Step 2 Battery door
A battery door designed for the RC model Step 2 to provide easier access to the battery space. The design uses a plate placed at the top of the battery space, with the battery secured by Velcro and a small Velcro belt passed under the plate. The hinge uses 1.5mm wire, which can be removed with the doors for full access to the battery space. The knob connects to the slider using a piece of carbon rod, though the author notes any plastic or wood rod with a diameter of approximately 3mm can be used. Assembly instructions: The author recommends using Vaseline around the hole to prevent the knob and slider from sticking to the door during gluing. Glue the slider to the rod outside of the door, then place the slider into the door and glue the knob from the top hole. The author states almost any material can be used (PLA, PETG, PCTG....). Support is optional but may be required for the hinge area of the door; however, the author notes the opposite hinge width is designed wider than required, so the lower part of the hinge on the doors can be cut, allowing them to be printed incomplete to fit well.
