Lightweight wing segment for vase mode and 14 mm spar

Aerodynamic wing segment designed to manufacture a lightweight structure using FDM printing in vase mode. The model is a single closed mesh of approximately 199.92 × 25.60 × 160 mm in its original orientation. Its section reproduces a wing profile with a rounded leading edge, a thin trailing edge, and a 14 mm circular channel intended to house a user-supplied spar. Tom Stanton's source recommends LW-PLA and vase mode. In this process, the slicer interprets the closed volume as a continuous wall envelope, avoiding infill and reducing mass. The result depends entirely on the path being continuous: before printing, activate spiral or vase mode, check all layers, and confirm that no isolated movements, unexpected closures, infill, top layers, or discontinuities appear around the spar channel. As a starting point, use a 0.4 mm nozzle and a layer height of 0.20 mm or that recommended by the filament manufacturer. In LW-PLA, expansion changes with temperature, speed, and flow rate, so a generic multiplier should not be copied. Perform a calibration tower or specimen, measure the actual wall thickness, and adjust flow and temperature until a stable joint without excess material is achieved. Moderate speed and consistent cooling help maintain a defined trailing edge. The validated orientation leaves 160 mm on the vertical axis of the file. Keep that orientation so that the spiral path advances along the intended height. Check that the footprint of nearly 200 mm fits on the bed, that the initial edge has sufficient adhesion, and that the first turn does not invade the 14 mm channel. Such a thin wing can deform due to air currents, uneven temperature, or sudden bed movements; use a clean surface and avoid removing it until it cools. The 14 mm spar is not included. Its actual diameter, stiffness, material, adhesive, and joining method must be verified in the complete project. Do not force an oversized tube into the channel nor use the part if it shows cracks, delamination, deformation, or a fragile trailing edge. Compatibility with other segments, roots, tips, fuselages, or control systems has not been validated in this file. This model is intended for aerodynamic experimentation, unmanned aircraft prototypes, and educational demonstrations, but it is not a certified component and must not be used in manned aircraft, safety-critical applications, or flights over people. Actual structural behavior requires load testing and flight in a controlled area.
